Baiwan Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Xichuan Basin region?. It was erected by the Henan Regional Geological Survey Team in 1978. Its type section is to the east of the Baiwan Village at the Zhaowan Reservoir of the Zhenping County, Henan Province.
Lithology and Thickness
The Baiwan Formation is built up by a set of gray green and yellow green sandy mudstone, which is roughly divided into two parts. Lower part is represented by gray green and yellow green mudstone and sandy mudstone with sandy conglomerate. Upper part is yellow and gray white massive marl with a small amount of gray green mudstone and sandy conglomerate. It is 327.6 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The basal part of the formation is unconformable contact separated from feldspar-quartz sandstone of the underlying Ganjiaogou Fm by the appearance of gray white sandy conglomerate.
Upper contact
The top of the formation is unconformable contact bounded by conglomerate at the base of the Gaogou Fm.
Regional extent
This formation only occurs around the Zhaowan Reservoir of Zhenping County, Nanyang, southwest Henan.

Fossils
The formation yields Ostracods Cypridea unicostata, C. baiwanensis, C. concina, Rhinocypris sp.; sporopollen Classopollis- Podocarpidites- Schizaeoisporites- Cicatricosisporites assemblage.

It belongs to shallow lacustrine facies.
